Rick Waychesko

Rick Waychesko started playing Trumpet at age 15 and since then he’s played with everyone from Tower of Power, to Lighthouse, to The Philospher Kings, to Nelly Furtado. It was 1980 when Rick joined Tower of Power and was with them for a year and a half or so. His time with Lighthouse started around 1993 and her stayed with the band for 5 years. After moving to Nova Scotia Rick taught part time at Cobequid Educational Centre in Truro where he led a smokin’ Funk Band. He also led a funk group in Halifax called Room 101. About 14 years ago Rick was one of the original members of a group of professionals called Riot Squad which was led by Bassist Jamie Gatti who premiered at the Halifax Jazz Festival in the summer of 2010. Rick currently play with the popular Asia Nu Gruv and is Lead Trumpeter for the Back Alley Big Band.
