Derek Jones

Derek is a graduate of Paul Barrett’s music program in Truro, Nova Scotia.  He continued to play music while attending St. Francis Xavier University, playing bass trombone with the university big band under the direction of Gene Smith and tenor trombone with various groups and musical productions.
 
While living in Australia, Derek played trombone in a number of wind ensembles and orchestras before moving back to Canada, ultimately settling back in Truro.  He’s currently a member of the Hubtown Big Band and volunteers time with the school bands program.
