Nathaniel Jenkins
TromboneBased in Halifax, trombonist Nathaniel Jenkins is an engaging and versatile performer, composer, arranger and music educator. Being born and raised in Antigonish, he naturally attended the Jazz Studies program at St. Francis Xavier University. In 2017, he moved to Toronto where he finished his undergraduate and completed a master’s degree at the University of Toronto. During that time, Nathaniel appeared at the Ottawa Jazz Festival as a member of the TD Jazz Youth Summit and at the Lätzsch Trombone Festival in Heek, Germany with the Toronto Trombone Collective. He also wrote several arrangements for large ensembles, notably the University of Toronto 12tet. Nathaniel was a member of the University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra and a finalist in the inaugural Intrada Brass’ Young Peoples’ Brass Competition. Since 2021 Nathaniel has performed frequently in Halifax, sharing the stage with artists such as Mike Murley, Willem Paynter, Andrew Miller, Gabe Mink, Ryan Billington and Meghan Gillhespy. As a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, Nathaniel currently performs with the Stadacona Band of the Royal Canadian Navy.
